Post Posted

FAMILY was a UK-based solo project of George Cassavetes, currently known as Stay Bless.

He did a mixtape back in the day for PENDU:

I'm looking for another mixtape he did, it used to be on his SC:
FAMILY mixtape for Platform
Description of the mixtape

information from http://readplatform.com/family-tape/:

George, the head of the FAMILY, makes a droney, miserable combination of house, rap and shoegaze that is pretty cool to listen to in the evening time. FAMILY have dropped a new EP of their weird, messed up sound, it's got the best artwork ever. We've liked their vibe from way back when (their videos are the best), so we got George to make a mixtape for us to celebrate his new EP.

In his own (fairly frank) words:

Platform asked me to do a mixtape so for the next hour you are going to be subjected to a mixture of my influences and tracks that I just really like right now. Blame them!

FAMILY mixtape for Platform by FAMILY
(Tracklist)
1. “Toss it Up” -2Pac An unexpected drone intro to a 2Pac track.

2. “Dark-Knights” -Arpebu One of the finest examples of footwork- kept it short though.

3. “Anidea” -Guido So laid-back- reminds me of a warm summer night in Miami or something but it came out of Bristol.

4. “Come On” -Vangelis Composed Chariots of Fire but before that he was in the prog band Aphrodite's Child. This is from his solo album Earth.

5. “Go Bang” -Walter Gibbons He was a pioneering disco dj in the 70′s taking disco onto a more experimental dancefloor.

6. “Sippin' on Some Syrup” -Three 6 Mafia Pure Southern ig'nant rap.

7. “Dragonaut” -Sleep One of my favorite tracks from my favorite of all the ‘stoner bands'. Love Cisneros' voice.

8. “Dont Need No One” -Dipset Trance Party A fucked up remix by the The Diplomats.

9. “THIRD EYE SIXTH SENSE” -Ritualz Has an obvious love of black metal and European dance.

10. “Sunflower” -Nicolas Jaar His sounds are always so crisp and intoxicating.

11. “Synthy” -Peaking Lights I have been letting their album '936′ wash over me for the past few weeks. A great example of psychedelia in electronic music.

12. “Wizard Fight” -Weedeater I put this on when I'm really stressed and want to listen to something fast and heavy.

13. “Sin Nanna” -Sunn O))) & “I Don't Like The Look Of It” -DJ Roc Rumbling bass then some umpa lumpa footwork.

14. “Green & Yellow” -Lil Wayne I was watching Spike Lee doc on Hurricane Katrina. Then I heard Weezy's version of “Black & Yellow” which switched the team to New Orleans Saints.

15. “Lay My Love” -John Cale & Brian Eno Such an uplifting song- great melodies.

16. “Eye Of The Beholder” -Alejandro Jodorowsky From the soundtrack to Holy Mountain which got me interested in alchemy and the book by René Daumal 'Mount Analogue'.

17. “Came Up (feat. S.L.A.S.H.)” -G-Side A great underground-ish rap crew.

18. “Black Ships Ate The Sky” -Current 93 A heavy & hypnotic track from David Tibet. I've put it on whilst djing a few times and it freaks people out! aka clears the dancefloor.

19. “Slangin Yayo” -Lil B The Based God Lil B is crazy!

20. “Tainted Love” -Coil Remember first hearing this with some friends and it made me punch the air like a fool at the heavy synth bits.

21. “OMG” -Autre Ne Veut One of my favorite artists to come out of the recent lo-fi R&B thing- great voice and melody. It makes me feel so happy even though it's got some pretty depressing lyrics.

22. “Dunkelheit” -Burzum Maybe an obvious choice but Burzum is just one man who makes a shit load of noise. (I choose to ignore all of his views though)

23. “UP by OFWGFTA” remixed -Babe Rainbow Babe Rainbow screws with Odd Future. Slowed down hood-rat shit.

24. “Heavy Pop” -WU LYF So much emotion in his shouts and yelps. Kind of like Tom Waits' tortured grandson or something.
